Introduction to poetry
Today we are going to focus on the genre of poetry. Some are already very familiar with this genre and know a lot about it. The lesson we will do today is designed for you to show me just how much you know about the genre of poetry.
Poetry is writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm.

What are characteristics of poetry compared to other text such as non fiction writing?
